Passage sends you one passage from a classic book each day, carefully chosen for you. This page explains what we keep to do that, and nothing more. The Passage team runs Passage and is responsible for your data.
What we keep
- Your account: the email address you sign in with, or the private identifier Sign in with Apple gives us (Apple may relay your email through a private address).
- Your answers: what you do for work, where you are in life, and a writer or book you love. You can change them in Settings at any time.
- Your settings: delivery time, time zone, language, appearance and whether notifications are on, plus the device token Apple gives us to send the daily notification.
- Your passages and what you do with them: the passages chosen for you, the ones you keep, and your likes, dislikes and comments.
- Your purchases: the App Store tells us which passes you bought and when. We never see your payment details.
How we use it
Only to choose and deliver your passage. Your answers, recent passages and feedback are sent to Anthropic's Claude API, which chooses and explains the passage; Anthropic does not use this data to train its models. Email sign-in codes are sent through Resend. Notifications go through Apple's push service. These providers process data on our behalf and only for these purposes.
We do not sell your data, show ads, or track you across apps and websites. There are no analytics or advertising SDKs in the app.
How long we keep it
As long as your account exists. When you delete your account in Settings, everything above is deleted from our servers right away, and we revoke the Sign in with Apple link.
Your rights
You can see and change your answers and settings in the app, and delete everything by deleting your account. For a copy of your data or any question, write to [email protected].
Children
Passage is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it, and important changes are announced in the app.
